I generally don't get upset about the holocaust - as I don't get upset about the past - no matter how terrible. It's the future and the present that get me down, especially parts of the future history this country and the world that I see as bleak and feel helpless to change. Apparently, it's these topics that can lead me to tears, really.

I confess I found his comments about Jews and the Holocaust incredibly offensive, much more so than I ever have his inane remarks about the United Kingdom, Brits, Australia or big gay homos. I have no problem giving as good as I get with his observations on those topics.
He just seemed unable to get any sense of proportion into his comments, and went so far beyond the boundaries of humour or taste and decorum to warrant some kind of ban.
I've been banned for the occasional remark about Fez/Pedro Poopy Pants and posting a Courbet painting- the latter I did find particularly hard to fathom (apparently 'family' sites can't accommodate world famous 19th Century art...) but there seemed to be no attempt at being amusing or witty or informative in his tirades, just a desire to insult the memory of the dead and their descendants and the remaining survivors of the Holocaust.
When I read his little rants, it was the first time I'd ever read anything on Poly that produced such an immediate visceral response, that it actually made me want to hurt somebody- he was right up there with the torturers of animals in my book .
