    Gutless.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I'd love to see HRC win, if only to watch all the GOPers die from blood pressure caused strokes. However, I can't abide the woman's politics. Not that it matters, since I'm voting Socialist.

Totally, shameful. The Democrats are searching, searching for someone to be guaranteed to lose the general election.

Why would a Dem necessarily want Hillary to run?

Good, so you'll help elect another Republican in that cracker state of yours.

Because she would be a very strong candidate in the general election. She's the only prizefighter the Dems have.

If the GOP wins, it just means the Republic falls that much faster and liberals radicalize that much harder. If Dems win, life gets a little easier for me as an individual.

You mean like in 99,999 years instead of 100,000? The last chance the empire really had to go commie was after the great depression. You'd be better off banking on the second coming of Christ.

                    So commies are masochists?

Strong for who, is the question? At least you wouldn't have ads by Trailer Park Veterans for Truth attacking her Vietnam service, but I'm sure Rove & Co. could come up with something. Whitewater MCMLXXXVIII, or Cookiegate or something about Bill and Lewinski or something?

'06 and '08 will be more about the Republican "leadership" of the country in the last decade than anything or anyone the Dems can scrape up to run.

Current GOP policies are making the U.S. China's *****.

Many are, yes. Frankly, I see no reason to live like a monk if the revolution isn't imminent on the grounds of "purity."

And China's about as commie these days as Commodore Vanderbilt and Jay Gould.

That stuff isn't that effective if the candidate is strong. The Dem's negativity in '04 probably only earned them less than 2 points. Bush's coalition held.

Ah yes, The "avoid losing" approach. Could work in '06, although if the Dems don't put out and promote a good platform between now and the election, they may do much less well than hoped.

In any event, that approach doesn't work in presidential elections.

I must not understand something about American politics.

What is "gutless" about not wanting Hillary to run?
I though she was pretty much the default Dem candidate for 2008.
