Anyone noticed how casualties in the war in Iraq are gradually rising up the league table of wars fought by the US?
Currently it is ranked 8th in terms of soldiers killed, out of 12 'wars' the US has fought, just recently surpassing the numbers killed in the Spanish-American War after surpassing the 1812 War a while back...
2,607 Killed and 19,387 wounded as of Aug 19th (CNN) with no end in sight, indeed according to The Independent, this August has been one of the bloodiest months for US casualties with 64 killed.
And for what...?

The attacks coincided with President George Bush's launch of a pre-election round of speeches to rally Americans behind the Iraq campaign. "If America were to pull out before Iraq could defend itself, the consequences would be absolutely predictable and absolutely disastrous," he said. "We would be handing Iraq over to our worst enemies. They would have a new sanctuary ... with huge oil riches."
