  • It was the Vichy France-Thailand War of 1940-41.

Vichy won a naval battle at Koh Chang. Japan acted as 'mediator' and awarded the disputed territories to Thailand, which soon became a vassalized state of Japan.

      • Peace in our time, following a rather significant battle.

Who were the forces, and what really happened ?

        • (First?) battle of Megiddo,
Pharoah wrote some inscriptions saying hed one, but actually he lost. Something about egyptian chariots being surround by Hittite infantry, I think.

I presume the artificacts are stellae marking a compromise peace? Not sure.

              • Battle of Kadesh. First recorded peace treaty in human history. Largest chariot battle ever waged, involving thousands of chariots fighting each other on open ground.

                    Well done, Snowbird.

                    Battle of Kadesh:

Battle of Kadesh was made between Hittites and Egyptians in 1275 BC.

Today an enlarged copy of this peace pact made of cuneiform tablet found in Hattusas hangs in the United Nations building in New York, demonstrating to modern statesmen that international treaties are a tradition going back to the earliest civilizations.

And as the 'official' Egyptian view had it:

Every country trembled before him, fear was in their hearts; all the rebels came bowing down for fear of the fame of his majesty, when his army came upon the narrow road, being like one who is upon the highway.
