          • Eh. I'll be the first to admit I know next to nothing about the American civil war. But before I posted I read the Wikipedia article on 2nd Bull Run, and it mentioned the ground was open, while lacking mention of significant cavalry action.

But the only twinned battle I knew of was 1st and 2nd bull run, so...

Sorry, I've been busy with falling trees, bad neighbours and Dogon artefacts.

It's the successful Slave Revolt on Saint Domingue/Haiti, which almost occasioned an alliance between Jefferson and Napoleon, and did lead ultimately to the Louisiana Purchase, due to the effect of the aedes aegypti mosquito on the French troops sent to quell the rebellion.

Anyhoo, these chaps were also involved in the conflict from my first post.

Any more explanation as to why and how the Dogon knew about Sirius B, or is that really just a myth?

And is the only succesful slave revolt in recorded history. Good job!

                                Strangely no.

It's something I find fascinating too. I suspect though that a little more historical research may show it to be a 'lucky guess' rather like Jonathan Swift's 'knowledge' of Deimos and Phobos when at the time no telescope existed which was powerful enough to observe the odd satellites of Mars.

This was the 'best' aeroplane one side had:
