  • Oh well, since Alexander didn't put a new question after he got the right answer, I guess I'll go.

What country did this flag portray:

          • It's the flag of the Republic of the Rif tribes. (Those crazy Berbers.)

Now since my previous turn was used by somebody else, I shall post two. One of these is fairly easy and one is not.

First, who is this? Why is he important?

            Second, who's flag is this?

Godfrey of Bouillon, conqueror of Jerusalem.

Now this one is interesting: the colors of the Tricolore (or the Dutch flag, for that matter) combined with something that looks very similar to an old Zoroastrian/Persian symbol, the Faravahar.

I told you one was easy. But looking at the source is cheating.

                Keep trying on this one.

It is. Curiosity killed the cat.

The symbol represents Ashur, not Zoroaster, and it's the flag of the modern, non-existant Assyrian nation. Nice one!

oh, geez, I didnt even get anything from searching. Just noted (as I always do) that it was a Vaubanian fort, and the statue of the guy with a plan.

It will take a while for me to post a pic, bear with me.

If l.o.t.m. doesn't mind, something to while away the time, in the spirit of the last picture.

A famously fought over place, it went back and forth between nations.

Which is why it had cutting edge defences...
