    I'm the guy calling "BS"
Great. Thanks. Your opinion has been noted.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I don't have to prove it precisely because it's not my claim, or as you put it, I'm not the man throwing bald assertions
Actually yes you claimed it a LIE. That is a serious accusation.

Feel free to prove teh accusation or simply state for the record you don't beleive it and move on.

        Otherwise this is simple masturbation.

I don't think the pro/anti phrase in this case is directed at a narrow group, such as homosexuals. In this case, it has to do with the view of children. Are families replete with children to be avoided or encouraged?

If you've seen the difference, then you know what the difference is. It's very stark. It seems somewhat to be tied to geography and economics, but not entirely. I was visiting my sis out in South Dakota and families blessed with children seem to be seen as a good thing there. Come back to D.C. and there are few children to be seen (normally among the immigrants) and kids are viewed as annoyances at best.

Are you saying there's something wrong with masturbation, Ogie?

Are you trying to make me out to be a hypocrite?

After all, I do wear glasses and had a wife in constant state of pregnancy for about 3 years.

Got to agree with VJ here. The 80% figure sounds like pop sociology.

Other people's babies are cute and fun. It's the older ones that need to be muzzled and be put under sedation.

Having 1 baby is okay. 2 babies is iffy. More than that and you're dooming your offspring and eveyone else's to ecological collapse.

Me, clearly. However, since I choose not to breed, you can let me die of old age.

There is a wide body of research dating back 30 years about intergenerational voting patterns, which consistently shows that members of household X are statistically more likely to agree politically than complete individuality would predict. I can't find the exact 80% figure after five minutes of googling but the following did pop up: The household as context as shown by a 1992-1997 longitudinal study - The Economic Research Council

The Social Logic of Politics: Family, Friends, Neighbors, and Workmates as Context for Political Behavior (edited by Alan S. Zuckerman) contains pieces by a number of academics backing up the assertion "those who talk together vote together" (and by extension that "those who live together vote together"), but I can't find any online excerpts to post here. There are also dozens of related articles in academic journals you can find at any library (or online database if you have access to one).
