Laugh it up fuxx ball, but eventually you conservatives will destroy the planet, and then where will you be?
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Look at the bright side. At least you'll be able to say "I told you so."
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Less educated young married couples will certainly have more children than older, more educated couples. These younger couoples will seek large homes but need to find them for cheap, so they go to the outer burbs, continually further out. These younger less educated couples will also tend to be more religious.

Those factors are probably the biggest factors determining party affiliation. This is why Repugs carry the outer burgs so decisively, because those younger, less educated, more religious couples will consider themselves Republicans.

Hispanics' cultural conservatism is well established. On abortion, a plurality of Hispanics (45 percent in the Time survey) wants to see Roe v. Wade overturned, even as Roe maintains majority support (65 percent) among the population at large. Hispanics also oppose homosexuality and homosexual marriage. A 2002 Pew Hispanic Center and Kaiser Family Foundation poll found 72 percent of Hispanics said they felt homosexual sex between adults is "unacceptable," compared to 59 percent for whites. Polls also routinely show much less support among Hispanics for same-sex "marriage."

So let's see — an exploding population of fundamentalist Christians in the United States, combined with an already-burgeoning population of fundamentlist Muslims in the Middle East and beyond. Add in the fact that population numbers in Europe and Japan, bastions of mostly level-headed people, are stagnating or shrinking. On top of that, toss in the male-to-female imbalance (i.e. there are a lot more males than females) in India and China. Last, but not least, consider the ravaging by disease and war of people in Africa.

What does that all lead to? The pessimist in me says a chaotic, war-filled future where populations are polarized and going at each other's throats over issues ranging from religious differences to resource and water wars. With the weapons technology we now possess, it is quite conceivable there will be alot fewer humans on Earth a century from now.

The optimist in me, well, he's on vacation right now.

What, was that news to you? Latinos already account for an enormous part of our population growth, and they have the highest birth rate of any ethnic group in the US as far as I'm aware. People have been predicting for years that California will become majority latino in the not-so-far-off future. It's certainly not something that immigration reform can stop.

Like it or not, this is where we are headed and this is where a lot of political power will shift to in our lifetimes. Next to that, this much touted growth of American conservatives is chump change.

This is the first time I've heard the population growth of the conservative "touted". I'm suprised that it's not only been touted before but now has risen to the vaunted "much touted" status.

Immigration reform will happen soon IMO, and it will reduce the Mexification of the U.S. by reducing the number of illegals, reducing the number of Mexicans who end up staying her because it's such a pain to cross back and forth, and increasing the numbers of high growth immigrants from other parts of the world.

Tell that to the California Republican Party. They've gotten creamed in every election since the mid-1990's mostly due to the hispanic vote. It seems the rather racist propositions the state Republican Party has put on the ballot, like prop 187, have pissed off hispanics to no end. The current Republican hysteria about brown skinned immigrants is having a similiar effect.

I should send a nice thank you card to Frist and other Congressional Republicans pushing the "enforcement only" bill. They've gotten more the hispanic vote more solidly in the Democratic camp then ever before.

Which is all irrelevant, when you consider the various ways the GOP alienates the majority of Hispanic voters on other issues which they find more important.
