Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Maybe they can asterisk him if they lose

            I call BS.

A Dutch rider caught in the '90 's battled for long but was never acquited.
He even was caught a second time after a one year ban.

And offcourse, if it was so easy to challenge and overturn the results/ban, why would the UCI even claim abuse?

Besides, you guys should remember that there was a purge of most favourites right before the Tour started, because these favourites had been caught doing doping.
Since this Tour wanted to be so "clean", anybody who gets caught can expect a swift demise, especially the winner.

Actually, a few of those favourites were not caught doping, but investigators discovered ties with the Spanish doctor Fuentes. He is known to have doped a lot of riders, and that alone was reason enough for the organization to exclude them. There's a big thing going on in Spain about him... Several hundred riders have been listed as being connected to him in some way.

                  Not quite.

The test performed to measure that is the CIR, or carbon isotope ratio test. It measures the ratio between C-12 and C-13 in the Testosterone molecules.

Chem-Geek Supplemental Update: for the folks who have been wondering where exactly the isotopic difference comes in, here's the story: synthetic testosterone is made from phytosterol percursors, typically derived from wild yams or soy. Those are both warm-climate C3 plants, which take up atmospheric carbon dioxide by a different route than temperate-zone C4 plants, leading to noticeably different isotope ratios. That's where all the isotope-driven studies of diet start from. The typical Western industrial-country diet is derived from a mixture of C3 and C4 stocks, so the appearance of testosterone with a C3-plant isotopic profile is diagnostic.

So, as far as I can see this whole test relies on difference between plants in a typical Western diet and the plants used to create synthetic testosterone. Change your diet and you fail the test. Well, not immediately, because it takes some time to build up, of course. But if you grew up eating a different diet, like, oh, yams or soy, you'd be screwed.
