The Germans couldn't close on Britain and her rag-tag band of colonials when they were all that was left. There's wuss factor if I've ever seen it.

Wuss as in not being able to put up a proper fight.

It's true Germany never managed to get too close on Britain, but in open field the Brits ran like chicken.

        Dunkerque anyone?

          Yeah, right.
Example France, Holland, Belgium and Luxemburg.
At the first days of the offensive, they had to face to full strength of the Wehrmacht (Total against France + Benelux: 119 infD + 10 PzD + 7 motorizedD)
Luxemburg police - Lux has no army - not being able to stop the German army: greatest wussies ever!.
Holland, I haven't search for how much, but say half of the Wehrmacht spearhead against them, collapses in 6 days: clear wussies too.
Belgium, say the other half, manages to hold enough for French and UK to come to help. They will hold 18 days: wussies again.

Now, let's compare with the big boys, the real warriors:
          Russia:
They too face the full strength of German army (Total 126 infD + 19 Pzd + 19 motD).
After 18 days, all baltic states are occupied, so is Bielorussia. July, 10th, the battle of Smolensk may begin. Rough estimation on my atlas map: Smolensk is more than 600km from the Polish border, shortest way. Belgium is at it's best 250km long, but only if you purposely take the longest way.
More than 600 km, compared with 250, clearly russians must be greater warriors!

          America:
Dec, 1st 1941, Germans are stopped before Moscow. Hitler confirms the order to stop the offensive.
Dec, 7th 1941, 6 days after Russians have stopped the tide, USA is pulled in the War ... against Japan.
Dec, 13th 1941, 6 days after Pearl Harbor, USA still has not 'come to our help' by declaring war to Germany. It will be GERMANY that will declare war to USA.
Nov, 8th 1942, 11 month after the declaration of war, the first American soldier set foot in North Africa. Being at war for 11 month and having all this time to prepare, clearly makes them greater warrior than European wussies being caught of balance.

From then on, and with the exeption of the battle of the Bulge, USA will at worst face 1/3 of the Wehrmacht.
          1942 N. Africa: 3 German divs + some Italians (160 in Russia)
          1943 Italy: 16 divs (220 in Russia)
oct 1944 France: 74 divs (164 in Russia)

Let's face it: France, UK and Benelux, not being able to stop as few as 135 German divisions: wussies!!!
Russia: giving up 600 km ground where western allies gave 250: great warriors
USA: together with UK and a few FreeFrench are not only capable to hold, but even to defeat, as many as 3, then 16 German divs (ok, ok, + some Italian ones), or even 80 german divisions: Truely heroic warriors!!!

Not having the balls to finish the fight already begun before starting new ones is pretty stupid, on top of being very wussy.

North Africa: Rommel had far less men and inferior equipment, yet he drove the Brits into Egypt. They needed a bottleneck to stop him.

Burma: this doesn't count because there were 2 second league armies fighting, the Japanese and the Brits. So it's a fight between wusses, how do I care how one of them fares?

nye, hiding on an Island is wussier than not invading it when the opponent has more ships. The Brits were top spot in Naval warfare, so stopping before their fleet isn't wussy. It's land warfare I'm on about. Dunkerque anyone?

While not in a majority, Germans are the largest group among US immigrants and also among ancestry of modern US population.

Yes, I see your Teutonic devotion to the glories of the charge of the knights.

Too bad, for you, it's pretty stupid to start a fight where navies and airforces play a large role.

Basic fact. You Huns were better prepared and did a good job so long as you had teams to play against who played the old way.

As soon as you ran into teams who played the new way better than you, you folded like a Sunday card player in the shark pool.

                    Wusses.

That blitzkrieg seemed pretty new-fangled at the time. Then again, why am I expecting a Canadian to know anything about war?

That's like saying an Bavarian is the same as a Saxon as an English pig-dog is the same as a Scot.

The country is WASP, not Kraut. The Krauts got assimilated.

Yes nye, but in those days people believed in the importance of their ancestors' blood running in their veins. Aneesh might have a point. Or he might not have one. Who's to solve this mystery?

And, much as it pains me to say it, Montgomery.
