  • Were there only wusses in WWII besides Russians, Germans and Americans?

Let's face it, most armies collapsed after a few weeks of fighting, only 3 combatant nations stood up and did some proper fighting, those being the German, American and the Soviet Russian army (jokes expected).

Example: the French should be a given, but let's have a ,look at the English. They had nothing to stop the Germans in '40, and the rollback was done mainly by US forces. Did the Brits produce any efforts at all except develop some electronics and disturb our planes? Japanese and Chinese are quite laughable too.

    Discuss.

OK, I'll bite. The RAF fought off the Luftwaffe (after Hitler mistakenly shifted the focus of attacks from airfields & planes to bombing cities). I don't know if you'll count this as "fighting," but the British codebreakers were key in the war effort.

America & Russia got their butts kicked early in the war before recovering. (Hitler got sidetracked into trying to take out Stalingrad rather than Moscow.)

The Japanese were kicking Allied butt early in the war. Pearl Harbor was a severe blow to the USN (but perhaps helped turn it from a battleship navy to a carrier navy). And with their fight-to-the-death attitude, it wasn't easy taking all those islands back.

Rommel, or rather his african corps got their ass kicked by the brits. The yanks just added the last spike in the coffin.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The troll isn't getting many bites because you didn't construct any plausible excuse for believing that the brits/canadians/australians/indians and assorted other countries fighting for the British empire were in any way shape or form 'wusses' in wwII in comparison to the Russians, Germans and Americans. Not only was it obviously a troll but you didn't really give the sorts of people who don't mind feeding the trolls a troll argument to counter.

Canada was right in there from the beginning, and we were never really threatened.

Many, many thousands of Canadians gave their lives fighting a war for Europe.

            Wusses, I think not.

On the other hand, the Americans tucked their tail and hid until they got attacked themselves...

It wasn't a Canadian's idea. They just had the balls to do it.

Of course not. But it die give valuable lessons for D-Day and gave Lord Lovat a chance to show off. Which he did, with distinction

I can't believe the OP dismissed Japan's first-half performance like that. They made huge gains, and fought the US hard until the end. Also, in Europe there was Guerilla resistance in places like Yugoslavia and Crete.

As for my team, well, apart from "disturbing your planes" (saving our asses if you don't mind), "some electronics" (including busting open your codes), and defending our shipping lines, there was a significant victory in the desert. I'll agree that the contribution on the Western Front was relatively modest compared to the USA, but then they were a bigger Civ.

I would disagree with that - defeated, yes, ass kicked? I wouldn't say that. His supplies often didn't get through (due to the aforementioned codebreakers), and he never got all the troops he wanted. He did a lot with a little. And after El Alamein he kept out of Monty's reach all the way back across Africa.

No, a large segment of the population didn't want to get involved. The US ambassador to Britain (a Kennedy - Joseph?) was saying Britain was toast. FDR wanted in - he helped with aid at the beginning. But it took the attack on Pearl Harbor and the subsequent declaration of war by Hitler to get the declaration of war against the Axis powers.

Yeah, that was a crazy thing to try. Still, we learned how not to do it from that experience.
