I've seen Moscow. There's nothing there really.

I think the military already knew that, but they wanted the F-14 and 15, so they kept the mouth shut.
Mig-25 is an interceptor. It wasn't designed for dogfight, but to quickly approach your bomber or reconnaissance aircraft and shot it down from a long range. And it's still the fastest combat airplane (3M), which holds world records for altitude, speed and climb-up rate.
I mean, your military surely knew that Mig-25 can't dogfight well, 'cause it wasn't even designed for close combat, the plane is pure interseptor. But F-14 and F-15 are not counterparts of Mig-25. They are different planes designed for different purposes (first one is naval, second is multy-role).

And I've spent a considerable part of my life there.

Btw, have you seen the Lenin's corpse?

            My favorite picture of Moscow:

"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)
            2004 Presidential Candidate
2008 Presidential Candidate (for what its worth)

That won't happen (at least, according to your dear leader).

Who would you like to see as President next?
(other than myself of course )

                            • Soviets made planes that actully flew.
Until they flew combat missions against the Luftwaffe, anyway. Or the Finnish air force, which had a better kill ratio against the Red Air Force than the Luftwaffe did, IIRC.
