Reading the OP, all I have to ask is when the **** was the last time a Democrat pandered to any base?
Last I checked, there were 88.
Which is around 400 stations less than Limbaugh alone. Not to mention that Limbaugh gets about 10 million more listeners a week than the entire Air America lineup combined. And they're losing their flagship New York station at the end of August.
Yes, they're doing quite well.

Actually, I'm no partisan. There are a lot of topics I will agree/work with rightists on. I'm not afraid of compromise (remember that word?) I try to get all sides of an issue first. Look, I'll admit that Air America does not have the listenership that they should to be a successful brand. That doesn't mean they don't have listeners (which they have), nor does that mean they aren't growing (which they are.)
Talk radio has been a bastion of the right for years. Until you see a movement by the progressive side towards talk radio, you won't see the numbers for Air America that Rush, Bill, etc do.

Since when does one event = base pandering? There is no consistent message from the Democratic leadership going to that side. In fact, the establishment is doing everything in their power to keep Lieberman, while the "base" (as you just called them) want the Bush-lover O-U-T.
