Apparently Raymond Flowers the Marine recruiter featured on Fahrenheit 9/11 trying to recruit more cannonfodder to join up has been killed in action in Iraq...

I suppose you could say he put his money where his mouth was...

Actually more like 20/10, assuming you're quoting average US soldier deaths over any given ten day period in Iraq...

It's too bad he was there and too bad he died. It's hard to join you in feeling all smug and fuzzy over this.

Someone who believed in what they were doing died doing it. It sucks. But it's the way life is.

Why'd they send a recruiter to Iraq?

I really can't see the reason to mourn when someone who wants to kill and be killed gets killed.

If it was someone who recruited people for the intifada the thread would be filled with smilies.

While I agree with your statement in part, General Ludd, I think that the thread-starter was being crass and speaking in bad taste, and only due to the nature of the smilie.

Contrary to your limited world view, the majority of the people in the military don't join the military to kill people.

Some people actually believe in defending their country, others do it to get money for college. Others, because they have nowhere else to go.

You can rail against the war all you wish, you can rail against recruiting, but the death of a person is never a good thing.

                              ACK!
