He was on Keith Olberman tonight pushing his global warming movie, and defending it from critics. Olberman cited 2 of these critics, a Toronto paleo-climatologist who has said CO2 levels were 10x higher
450 mya when the Earth was in the midst of a very cold spell, and a Finnish glacialogist who pointed out that the scene of ice shelf calving in Gore's movie is a natural process and not any evidence of global warming...

Gore's response to both critics was to smear them - Gore said these guys were just corrupt people bribed by polluters (Gore should be an expert on that) and referred to "peer reviewed" research supposedly refuting them. Al Gore is full of ****...

Well we knew that, didn't we. I like how the recent report on global warming said that this last decade was the warmest in 400 years, the proceeding the say that this past decade was "probably" the hottest in 2000 years.

When 95% of all climatologists agree, and the ones who don't are working for fossil feul companies, there is really no debate. Just a bunch of dunderheads who refuse to see the truth because it might cost them some profits.

And way to misinterpret what the report said (which mentioned the Little Ice Age, btw).

Oh boy, Gore didn't refute them. He was clueless about the science and all he could do was attack the messengers. I assume you have proof these guys work for the oil companies, but I know the Finn is right about calving. And I dont doubt the paleo-climatologist wrt CO2, but instead of smearing him I would have explained increased volcanic activity would spike CO2 and reduce temperatures and that likely accounts for the anomaly 450 mya but that more research needs to be done on paleoclimates.

We dont cause global warming, we are one of many, many factors affecting temperatures. If the long term cycles driving "ice ages" were conducive to an ice advance, our pollution wouldn't stop Boston from getting pushed into the ocean by a mile thick sheet of ice...unfortunately.

So was Gore incorrect when he claimed that no scientific peer-reviewed papers rejected man-caused global warming? What about the the commission Bush himself assembled to study global warming concluding that Global Warming is real and human caused?

BTW, Max Mayfield has retracted his previous statement that global warming is not causing the marked increase in hurricanes.

They have a couple quibbles with the way he said a couple things, because it could be taken to mean something more, but nothing Gore said was incorrect. They said he had a gift for making dull, dry science accessable.

Not with the amount of stuff he's talking about in the film. If he didn't understand the science, one would expect him to make quite a few errors.
