  • Boulahrous should've gotten red indeed.
The dive of van Persie in the end was a shame as well.

Besides that, I don't understand what the dutch players are to blame for besides not making a goal.
They played and they played and they played.

The portugese players laid on the ground and they laid on the ground and they acted and acted and acted.
About half the time of the 2nd half the portugese players were faking fouls.

Worst of course that damn actor Figo.
Sneijder was right to not return the ball to the portugese. If they want to play unfair, play unfair.

The Netherlands played good football. I've seen nice actions. The only good portugese ball I've seen is the goal, which was beautifull.

It's as with Italy 6 years ago. We dominated the game for 90 minutes, but we lost. We missed 2 penalties thus maybe we deserved it. But it's really a pain to lose when you were the better team.

Two years ago we lost against portugal as well. I could live with that. We sucked in that game and portugal ruled. Now they sucked and we played football.

Robben should've gotten a penalty in the first half when he got a karate kick against his chest in the 16 meter area. But the ref saw some non-existent foul of Kuyt.

It sucks, but I had a great night. I've been entertained. Had a nice time with my friends. Just wanted to cheer for a goal. Jump on the couch. Blast my horn for minutes. Then I couldn't care if Portugal would've won the penalty kicks. Just that one moment of hapyness. That's what I miss on this evening.

Could have been also a red. But be aware that the unfair Dutch provoked him extremely just before that foul:

Portugal had ball possession and game was interrupted because of an injured dutch player IIRC. But the Dutch kept the ball after that interruption.

      • Yep, which is why I think the ref gave a yellow instead of a red there.

That's true, but that's also why referees should think twice before having to give referee-ball. Or FIFA should change the rules about ball possession when the game is interrupted.
But in the situation as it is, "fair play" is up to the teams and although a big for not living it, Deco's acting was self justice and it should have been a straight forward red card. He was mad at the Dutch and that's why he made the foul. So to Deco.

            • If Portugal plays unfair by faking fouls and elbows I don't see why Holland should continue to be the brave nice saints and return the ball.

I don't see why any player should return the ball fairly to the team of Figo, the king of unfairness. I'm all for returning the ball to fair teams like cote 'd ivoire, brasil, etc. Never return the ball to Figo. That's a golden rule. I hope England will adopt to this.

              • I hope that Figo gets the gate for the rest of the WC.

What's the likelihood of that happening?

Can't say I won't be silently whistling some tunes tonight though, I'm sure you know which ones.

Err, you mean like the Dutch player who fell unconcious from Figo's "heavy" headbut (which, despite not being tragic, should have been a red card anyhow)?
However, the elbow against Figo was absolutely worth a yellow card for Boulahrouz, who should have been sent off after 6 minutes.

Really, while Prtugal isn't the nicest team either (I really dislike Figo and don't give much for Deco either), the Dutch were out of scope.

Don't agree. Both were going for the ball and the arm just happened to hit hit him ( which Figo was waiting for). These things happen and players get hurt without the need of a yellow card being shown.

I thought you guys took pride in never adapting or changing your style to the other team?

Not returning the ball was just sad (just as Robben was, but that's what we've come to expect from the little whining, diving ******).

                          • Indeed.. just because the other teams are or percieved to be *******s doesn't mean you have to be one yourselves. That's just finding an excuse to play dirty

                            • Gotta hope that Portugal can show that it can beat England even without two key players. I quite like England, but they've been appalling all tournament, today in particular.

From replays, did it look like he came anywhere close to Figo's upper face?

It looked to me like his forearm hit the chin, and then Figo went down like he had a broken nose.

I started really wanting the Dutch to win at that point.
