Yeh, sanctions and isolation. Good show!

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Yah, seems silly, but I must root for the underdog.

I knew they were about to test a missile... didn't know it was an ICBM. In that case, Europe should better start increasing defense budgets NOW. With Iran and NK arming up we're in for some trouble.

I misread the title as "North Korea missile shot down!" and wondered how those Japanese managed to build up their SDI so fast.

edit: ahh, I see Yin26 had similar thoughts

You mentioned statism in another thread, so I assume that's what you admire here too. I wouldn't draw that conclusion. If North Korea was a capitalist country, it could also build both nukes and ICBMs, but with much less sacrifice.

Yeah, but don't get your hopes up for the missile defense system.

We should use our very best missile defense...

If we did shoot down their missiles, I would take this as proof that the CIA controls far more then I had thought..

If we shoot it down then people will have a false sense of security. If we can shoot down missiles, why do we need to end proliferation? Let the rest of the world go to hell, we're safe here in the good old USA!

Then a suitcase nuke takes out New York...

Yes, I'm certainly more uneasy about the idea of the missle defense system working.

It's ok if it works, but you can't let the country know that.

That's true. As long as no one knows that it works, everything will be fine.
