Third partiers... independants... we've got to vote democrat
You're treating symptoms, not the disease. It has nothing to do with your analogy here--the conditions that created and enabled the corruption of the Republican party and the abuses of this administration are due to the environment and situation in place: career politicians, lobbyist industries, apathetic populace, disinterest in higher goals, anti-reform and anti-progress leadership, overconsumption of bread and circuses.
Kicking the Republicans out, a Symptom, and replacing them with the Democrats will do nothing to solve the underlying problem.
If we compare this to rabies, you're treating the foaming mouth by wiping it off--you're not even remotely considering using the anti-viral shots.
If we compare this to cancer, you're treating the weakness and pain by giving them more caffeine and accupuncture--you're not even considering giving chemo or radiotherapy.
Wiping the Republicans from congress and the government, while a nice goal, isn't going to do anything other than delay the inevitable.
What I'm suggesting is that we bite the bullet and deal with the inevitable now, when we still have a chance to turn the ship around, rather than later (which is what you're suggesting) when we're aground.
How many times do I need to re-word analogies in this thread? lol!
Our patient has several diseases. She has cancer and the common cold.
Let's cure the cold first, because thats going to kill her first.
a) colds usually don't kill even when people are taking chemo
b) as far as I recall there is no cure for the common cold. Which makes the analogy rather appropriate seeing as the Dems have no real leadership and/or plan. But hey if use of tired old nonworking solutions are what you are after, installing Democratic leeches is par for the course.
edit - damn xposting
"Just puttin on the foil" - Jeff Hanson
“In a democracy, I realize you don’t need to talk to the top leader to know how the country feels. When I go to a dictatorship, I only have to talk to one person and that’s the dictator, because he speaks for all the people.” - Jimmy Carter
Symptoms do not generally kill. In this case, the "symptoms" can kill. I am not interested in the underlying problem right now because a SURFACE problem can kill us before.
So, really, what you're saying is that you don't want to tackle the harder problem that would solve the festering breeding ground that leads to the infection that is Washington DC, but would rather just scrape out all the old fungus and let new spores and parasites in? Because maybe, just maybe, this batch won't be as dangerous?
Well, at least you're talking in English. After all, you're a foreigner and thus only 3/5s of a person; if you wrote here in Danish, we wouldn't care what you have to say or think at all.

I am not going to respond to false analogies anymore. I've stated my view at least a dozen times. I will not continue to respond to your ridiculous analogies which do not relate to the view I have expressed.
No. Your making a different argument which is difficult to disprove, then comparing it to mine. Your argument values different things.
Liberty and prosperity are desirable things.
Liberty and prosperity may very soon end and likely not return.
Liberty has for a very long time been under continuous assault and suppression.
I want to save our immediate liberty and prosperity, then work on fixing our liberty after.
You want to sacrifice our liberty and prosperity for no gain, because you sure as hell won't effect any change in our government by throwing your votes away.
I don't care about "your" problem. Your problem is distant and for now, bearable. You continuously say my solution does not fix your problem. Correct, it does not, but it solves mine. Most people want liberty as we know it now and prosperity today.
I think many of you need to face the possibility that most americans do not see anything wrong with America. That's why there is no desire to "fix" it. Sure people ***** about gas prices and the war in Iraq, but I think most people are content with their place in the world.
But america is a great nation. It's better than most other countries in the world.
Unfortunately I can't convince the majority of americans that universal health care is important. It obviously isn't important to most americans. They are selfish ******, and they got their health coverage, so they don't give a **** about me or my friends.
