2 blocks away from me a Catholic church is about to be levelled to make room for condos. Development
And is that the last church in your city?

That looks like a cricket score to me. In fact it looks like India vs the West Indies on the current tour.

Out of, lets say, the seven religions in CIV, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Confucianism and Taoism have never caused me any problem. Islam and Christianity have.

So what's so 'foolish' about noticing this and pointing it out?

Are you suggesting that given half a chance the Taoists would be trying to ram their religions down my throat like my two non-favourites have?

Hmm. Religious intolerance in Pakistan! Who'd'a thunk it? Meh. Maybe you should concentrate on genuinely terrible, as opposed to boorish, things that happen in the region. Like when women get murdered for being raped and suchlike.

A family friend once told us a story (probably apocryphal) of the Muslim-Hindu conflict up in the mountains. He said that every evening during good weather, the two sides would stop fighting to have dinner in their separate camps. The Muslims would roast a cow, while the Hindus would cook some pork over the fire. And each side would pray for the wind to blow the smell of their food over to the other side...this has nothing to do with the thread topic, really, I just thought I'd liven it up with something interesting.

Taoism is the one of the listed that I know the least about, but I know at times all the others have..

Well... religious institutions of Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, and Confucianism have all persecuted others for lack of faith. Taoism has never really held a position of power. Given that those four aren't any different than your two, I doubt the last one would be either.

Well, if you're right then it just goes to show that all religions suck, not just the ones that have bothered me in my little dot of space-time.

Did they really need to demolish it? Don't Hindu temples have a lot of artwork? That was a foolish act on the demolishers part; sounds like he has a grudge on hindusim and abused his power to demolish this Hindu Temple.

On the one hand, I don't like religon, on the other, I know that religion = culture and culture = difference and difference = success/progress. If everything is the same, you leave small room for imagination, making progression harder.

Also I just want to note that after my experience with my ex, whom I am happy to have left because I find her to be so self-righteous she cannot see past your own nose, or rather, her pastor's noses.
Anyway, what I realised is that Churches do not care about what is good or bad, they care about what is right and wrong, THEIR right and wrong; does anyone here agree with that?

btw just an update: I moved out of the house, now flatting with two indians (sister and brother, both about 30 and are very nice people). So my life is a very interesting one, for 25 years I have lived in the western world, then for 1.5 years I live with chinese, and now I am living with Indians.. next stop: Korean!

I honestly can't see any good coming out of Islamic countries. They are the source of terrorism in the world, they are the single biggest source of religious fundimentalism, and they are intent on destroying all other religions and cultures. We've seen this in Pakistan, we've seen this in Afghanistan, we've seen this in Azerbijan, and we've seen this in Saudi Arabia. The Islamic nations must make a choice between continued facism or acceptance of the modern world including rights for minorities.
