Anyone who bought an iBook in the past two years got majorly ripped off. Even PowerBooks.

The G4 is about 5 years obsolete...

                Pentium-M laptops didn't go for $1,000 back in 2005.

Even Celeron M processors are much faster than G4s. They were certainly quite cheap...

I seriously doubt that... from what I remember, everything PC that went in the iBook's price range was a P4 or Athlon XP mobile.

Beside, performance was never a major issue for me. As long as it can run what I want it to at a decent speed, I don't give a **** about theoretical stats. Must be my philosophical side.

Which, frankly, seems to explain why you're so wrong on so many details here...

OK, so I could have gotten a Pentium-M laptop for the same price as my iBook. But I don't care, the Mac is doing just fine.

Non-Intel benchmarks now available. Still show complete domination.

Intel, then, has moved the goalposts as far as consumer-level CPUs are concerned. Its low-end Core 2 Duo parts are more than a match for anything that has come before and its high-end models, headlined by the Core 2 Extreme X6800, have absolutely no peer

So, how much would 60 more FPS in FarCry cost me?
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

                                I'm building a new HTPC soon; I think I'll get me a 6600.

Am I better off going with 965 or 975X? The former doesn't support SLI, but supports 800MHz DDR2.
