The first pick is fairly good for making a list. The first pick, you just want the best player available. From then on, your picks are affected by who you already have.

Last year the draft started July 10 and finished August 16, with 192 total picks made.

I'd like the draft to finish in about a month, and preferably early in August, because I'll go to Hawaii in mid-August. Also, Imran's got limited internet access August 7 and beyond, so I think we should shoot for maybe July 1 to August 5, with 216 picks made in that time. Sound good?

I created the league. I erred on the side of low regulation in terms of can't cut list, trade rejection, etc. I assume we'll all play fairly and not collude to make someone win. I have kept an option to overturn trades, but I will only do so if a large number of people object in the league thread.

Here are the settings. None of them are really important to the casual player except roster requirements, but the people have a right to know.

The scoring system is the same as Zopperoni's last year, except I decided to penalize kickers who miss field goals less than 40 yards. It's always fun to laugh at your opponent when one of his players puts up a negative point value.

General:

12 teams.

13 game regular season, playoffs weeks 14, 15, 16. Six playoff teams, of whom the top two get first round byes. No games week seventeen.

No maximum moves or trades. No can't cut list. No trades after December 1. (Week 13 games are on December 3, so basically no trades during the playoffs.)

No waivers. Guys are fair game, or they are on a team. I like the Sun-Tues waivers option, but it's not available for free leagues. If only dropped players are on waivers, it kind of makes them pointless.

Snoopy pointed out that safeties are valued only at 2, even though they both give two points and return possession to the defender's team. In that way, they're almost like a turnover (which we value at 3 points) plus 2 game points (obviously, 2 points) so I will increase the value for a safety to five.
