Texas was a Republic that beat Mexico once, and joined the Union. Mexico invaded Texas; and the USA, now having Texas as part of their country, as a state, didn't like it.

No. It was Spanish land, and Texas was largely unused.Anglos, primarily from Tennessee, were making forees into Texas bootlegging from and to Louisiana. Spain decided to use Anglo settlements as a buffer between Comanche Indians and their greater interest, the bulk of land for them, Mexico.
Steven Austin had been given the right to bring in 300 families, and to those families would go acreage.
Spanish blood denerated, in their eyes, by unification with American Indians. This "mixed blood" are Mexicans.
LATER, Mexico rebelled against Spain, and sought to take back Texas. They ultimately lost.
In 1845 Texas as a sovereign nation, an official Republic, joined the United States, with the stipulation they could withdraw at any time. The only state with this provision.
