Al Qaeda and every other Islamist nutjob organization were not operating with impunity within Iraq's borders. The Bushies created that situation when they destabilized the place while radically misjudging the difficulty in re-stabilizing it.

The sad thing is, all Shrub had to do to understand this was phone home. His own father refused to press on to Baghdad in 1991 because he knew what destabilizing Iraq would mean.

The Iraqi invasion has done nothing to further the WoT (unless we're trying to help our enemies), was unecessary from the standpoint of national security (no clear & present danger) and has sucked up resources that could've been used elsewhere.
