    You call his country's work inferior and tout the superiority of your country's and then call him a racist for disagreeing with you.

        Trent Lott made the Navy buy one of these. So yes, we do subsidize our shipbuilding.

          Unless, of course, you're in Asia. At which point you're part of the majority, and who cares what minorities say? It's not like they're important or anything.

              Anyway, how did we get on this discussion? Oh, yes.

              Am I somehow wrong in talking out of my arse in the posts above? Particularly when I mention that if his country is losing money on shipbuilding, then there's probably a deeper issue with the industry? Say, problems with scale, problems with workmanship, or the like?

              Or am I somehow wrong when I point out that his complaints about the Korean shipbuilding industry might be due to a nationalistic fervor on his part?

              In any case, I truly apologize for ruffling any feathers. The correct thing to have done, I suppose, is to have let him continue to slag on the nation of my ancestry, without so much as a riposte.

                No, that wasn't the problem. Calling him a racist was the problem.

                South Korea's shipbuilding practices have been under a lot of scrutiny over the past few years. There is a difference between criticizing the actions of a country and insulting an entire race. You can call BS on his claims, but to call him a racist for it is just ridiculous and wrong. It just seems that you've been playing this card a bit lately only somewhat more subtly until now.

                  jesus, even japs are racist against other japs. asians are racist towards asians. and mexicans and blacks and guai. and dont even get me started on the racism of blacks towards jews and koreans. or jews towards everyone in a passive agressive way.

                        It would be, but still they don't hate em. I think I like Philipinos because they are so odd. They seem to have alot of love for family, hate for nobody and be corrupt as hell. I just can't figure em out. Love the place though, it's captured my heart. Damn that sounds cornball.
