Croatian contestant's name is Severina, for those who want to Google. I'm not fond of her music, but I admit that she is very good looking. Regarding subsidies, the US doesn't build many/any non-military ships. Our navy is very expensive, so I'm sure there's lots of subsidies in there. But for the commercial stuff, we've decided to gorge ourselves as everyone else falls over themselves to lose money in the shipbuilding biz.

The US may have horrid reality television, and I may avoid American Idol like a plague, but you know what? Only Europe, the birthplace of Reality Television could come up with something like Eurovision....

Kuci's picture looks like Ft. Lauderdale (port everglades). I have a picture like that of my ship entering. It was a good port of call- even if it was inside the U.S. .

but from what I understand, we don't build hardly any commercial ships. Most supertankers are built in Asia I believe. We just can't compete.

By definition, the U.S. navy is subsidized. It's not like they are making a profit.
