I expect the Wii to do much better than than the GC did. However, I agree with Imran that it won't likely overtake the Xbox360. It could overtake the PS3.

I think that it would be beyond Nintendo's wildest dreams to come in #2... and I also think it may be a goal that could be worth shooting for with Sony shooting itself in the foot.

So, basically, I think Dashi has it right.

Actually from reports on the floor, the sword didn't do that, which was disappointing. The sword would do a preprogrammed slash based on the direction & timing of your movement, but it wasn't "slash how you slash".
According to the programmers, the game will have a final count of 300 preprogrammed movement locations. The impression I had was that the floor version of Red Steel was an incomplete product. Of course, I could be wrong, or 300 isn't enough.

I think Wii will be the best selling of the three in Japan. Maybe number 2 in North America.

Poor Sony, they tried so hard..

I actually think Wii has a high chance of becoming #1 over a long period of time (maybe 2-3 years), simply because it appeals to pretty much everyone and the gaming community only covers about 10% of everyone.

I saw the E3 demo. I admit the wiimote has a lot of potential. If they fix the problems that were observed at E3, it will be great. The games just weren't there, IMO. I mean, there's not a single game that caught my attention. It was the same old Nintendo franchises, but with a new control schemes. All the goodies were with the other boys, IMO.

That definately seems to be the hope. We'll have to see how much of the ground Sony lost at E3, they can make up. If the launch of the PS3 includes a new Final Fantasy game, the Japanese market may go to them.

Though if you want to put your money with your mouth is, I'm open to a sig or avatar bet. Say, whether Wii is the console with the highest market share on 12/31/2007? That should be enough time for all the consoles of this go around to be established.
I'll take that. I bet my avatar that in December 2007, the Nintendo Wii will have the most market share out of any of the three major consoles.

Not that I really care either way but I know few people that can even afford to blow $400-$600 on a damn game console.

For how long (avatar bet)? A month?

Yeah. The month of January 2008 (or whatever full month immediately after sales numbers for December 2007 are out). Since my avatar will only be 80x80 as opposed to 100x100 I'll toss a sig line in.

You don't have to toss in a sig line... size of the avatar doesn't matter all that much (it's how you use it ).

Of course, I was talking North American market... was what you were thinking about as well?

The sequels to their popular franchises look good. Mario in Space (which should be the title), Smash Bros., and Zelda all look great and good fun with the wiimote.

I, myself, haven't bought a console since the SNES. I was thinking about the PS3, because I like the Final Fantasy games, but the price pretty much ruined that. The Wii is looking to be the best second choice for me. Plus, I kind of hope the PS3 fails, and Squaresoft will again make their FF games for the PC to recover lost revenues.

Let's do North American. That should be all the technicalities...

                              Sounds good.

Console market share in North America on 12/31/2007 (including Dec sales figures)
                              - If Nintendo is #1 in market share, I have to wear an avatar of your choosing (I assume it'll have to be Feb or March depending on when the numbers come)
                              - If Nintendo is NOT #1 in market share, you have to wear an avatar of my choosing

                              Agreed.
