On of the reasons I don't play console games is price - if I want to play a PC game, I just buy the disc and put it into the computer I'd have even if I didn't play games. If I wanted to play a console game, I'd, over the cost of the game itself, I would have to fork out hundreds of dollars on a console and a TV set. Obviously, this calculation would work out differently for someone who needed a TV but not a computer for non-gaming purposes.

Can you imagine playing tennis with that thing?

That would be a good idea for a game!

A few other considerations come into play. Console games are usually (but not always I stress) bug free. A main reason is because it is a single platform to program for unlike the vast arrangements PCs can have (and a lot of times you have bugs that affect one type of card... like the CivIV problems ATI users were having). Don't underestimate the appeal in just putting a disc in a console and not worrying about bugs.

Secondly, a console and a bare bones PC to surf the web are cheaper than a good gaming PC (everyone basically has a TV anyway).

It all boils down to the kinds of games you want to play and the kind of experience you want. If you and your friends only play strat games, its no wonder you don't care much for consoles.

Also, playing a game on the PC and on a console is two quite different experiences. Like Imran pointed out, PC gaming is frequently a pain in the ass. Believe it or not, a lot of people don't want to deal with that crap. And a lot of people I know simply don't enjoy playing on the PC. They prefer to sit confortably in their living rooms, playing on their large screen TV.

Consoles are the price of mid-range videocards.

Checking a "best buy" site, an Xbox 350 Core System is quite noticeably more expensive than my graphics card, and the Xbox 360 Premium is almost twice as expensive.

I don't think you can say that my NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT is particularly low-end either.

Lucasarts will apparently be selling a lightsaber-dueling game for the Wii. Yeah, that won't sell like hotcakes at all...

It will be low-end in a couple of months Anyway, the 360 is cheaper than a high-end video card. And need I remember that the video card in the 360 is a lot better than the 6600 GT? You can play Oblivion with all the bell and whistles on the 360.

A x1800XT ATI with 512 MB (which even that isn't as advanced as the X360's vid card), you may be able to find for $300 if you hunt around. Of course, that doesn't take into account the cost of the processor and increased power supply.

The amount you'd have to spend to get a PC that can play Oblivion with almost similar to the X360 (because it can't get exactly the same... not yet) is going to cost more than the X360 Premium, by a very good amount.

Any way you cut it Nintendo sucks and is for little kids. The sub-$200 price tag smacks of desperation.

And how much of the youth market will see that, salivate and convince their parents to buy it JUST for "hit" games like that?

The Wii will dominate the market, if I believed in sigs or icons(I don't heh) I would of bet it.

I do not own any consoles, and yet I am getting excited about Wii. I really liked the GameCube games I saw my friends play. Wii may end up as the first console I own.

Besides, it has the awesomest name ever.

Wiii! Whoo! Wii! Whoo-hoo-hoo! Wii! Wii! Wii!

It's rather nice. MS is saying, buy 360 and a Revolution, Sony is saying, buy PS3 and Revolution. I wonder what Ninty is saying? Buy Revolution and Revolution?

If gamers listen to Sony & MS, Revolution will outsell both of them.

Certainly, but still less than a Xbox 360 Premium + a TV + a computer good enough for the non-gaming things I do.
