I think, apart from nationalist feels, the reason people like or dislike flags is personal preference - so something a bit less boring and unimaginative than just three horizontal or vertical stripes please...

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Good flags use purely abstract, geometric forms. Though I guess dragons and lions are somewhat acceptable. What really bothers me about the Welsh flag is the use of green and red next to each other. As I said before it is down to personal prefences. I happen to like the Welsh flag. I also don't see anything wrong with the Bulgarian or Romanian colour schemes either, unlike a couple of haughty flag-waving snobs on this thread.
