On the Dem side, Hilary apart, we're likely to have Evan Bayh, son of Senator and failed Prez candidate Birch Bayh running. On the GOP side, other than Jeb Bush, the only "legacy" I can think of is John McCain, whos dad, though not a politician, was an admiral in WW2. Im sure there are some im overlooking. George Allen, whose dad was coach of the Redskins?
MA Gov. Mitt Romney, son of MI Gov. George Romeny.

Okay, Drose, I'll bite. Who is a good democratic candidate then?

Anyway, Jeb was originally supposed to be the son that ran for President (he's far smarter and displayed an interest in politics much earlier in his life), but George took it away from him. Would have been interesting to have a more moderate and Catholic Bush in the White House.

Evan Bayh I've met the guy in person, and I wouldn't hesitate to endorse him for president over anyone else.

I have to go to work now, but I'll see if I can think of someone(s) while I'm gone, though looks like others have already started answering...

Yes, a Governor. Democrats need to stop putting up Senators.

Well, Sen. Birch Bayh spoke at my college recently, and he seemed like a decent guy with a head on his shoulders. I don't know if even he was idealistic and self-sacrificing enough to try and take over management of the country after the damage Bush has done though.

                    ROD BLAGOJEVICH FOR PREZ

                    "are you the gay governor?"

aw man, that was a great Daily Show

Jeb can go **** himself... same with Hillary. I don't want either of them. Hillary is the lesser of the two evils, for sure. But both need to go away.

What is so good about this Mark Warner guy?

                        (serious question)

I don't know much about him... his positions, etc.

On the political side, he is a [former] Democratic governor from a Southern state (Virginia), where he is incredibly popular.

As to his qualifications, he fixed Virginia's budget crisis and has in general been a very good governor.

It's sad that we can't simply have the most qualified person for the job. Instead, we are forced to consider completely meaningless "qualifications" like "from a Southern State" just to appease ignorant morons who think that is of some importance.

And my statement is not a reflection on whether or not I think Warner would be a good President.

Er, actually, it's the fact that the president ideally would have the support of the majority of the country, so you pick somehow with qualities most of the country supports...

Not to mention Virginia would probably go blue in the general election, when it's a pretty strong red state usually.
