I can restate your quote as this (say in the year 1980):
"People don't consider homosexuality a victimless crime. They don't listen to your symantics. They look at reality."
(or you can use 'pornography' or 'alcohol' or 'prostitution', etc)
And one can argue that it causes breakdown in the family, especially if they are married for years before they find out they are gay.
What people 'consider' to be victim crimes is wholy irrelevent. People considered George W. Bush to be worthy of continuing as President in 2004. Who cares what they think?
