Oh, you are actually going to that?

I've found Delta Airlines offers the cheapest cross-atlantic flights and so did DanS.

I paid about 700 Brussels-New York/Atlanta-Brussels. Prices I'm getting now Brussels-Washington are in the 800-900 range including tax (Delta isn't notably cheaper anymore though).

They probably charge you extra because you're Greek.

I did a search with a Belgian travel site, and I got €795 + €216 tax Thessaloniki-Washington and back (with a stop in NYC) with Olympic Airways.

Here's the site, but it's only in French and Dutch: http://www.cwtonline.be/travel/home.asp

                    Ouch.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

For all the money you folks are trying to charge to go to that PolyCon thing I figured you'd be flying 1st class.

Take a sailboat. If it was good enough for Columbus then it is good enough for you.
