And my point is that the only way you can determine the value of a "directed education" is to hold all other factors constant. Otherwise you're simply making the statement that the children of the rich end up rich.

If you can show that the children of millionaires who get sent to a "second-tier" private school end up with worse jobs on average than the children of millionaires who get sent to "top tier" private school, then you have a point...

What does evolution have to do with any of this??? I understand the truthiness of evolution perfectly well, and remain religious, as well as hopefully getting married someday in the future...

Marriage is so overrated now days!!! Jeez everyone is to busy shacking up cause its easier to part if things dont work out. U dont need to divorce if ur just acting married. As the saying goes why buy the cow if ur getting the milk for free?
Men and women seem to need a bit more now days then a vow to be with just that one person since anything is a dime a dozen now.
When you find yourself arguing with an idiot, you might want to rethink who the idiot really is.

Then rather than some stupid religious ceremony, why not have an organisation that puts the want-to-be married couple through a series of tests; testing their willfulness, etc.

For example, the couple have to stand in once place, with no food for 2 days straight.

Or hand over ownership of the most expensive and/or most important item you own to your significant other.

Sounds like an opportunity more than a problem. Here's what you can do. Find one of those good women who is both young enough to be your daughter and a "lesbian". Convert and marry her. Live a long and happy life as a dirty old dad.

As somebody else already pointed out, evolution is actually a force working in favor of marriage, even if (as I doubt) it somehow has something to do with people's beliefs on the subject of matrimony. Skeptics just don't breed fast enough, plus they abort and aren't scared of birth control. Please, continue making the world a better and more enlightened place for our descendants to take over from you.

Is it not true that marriage, in any culture, is a completely religious event?

You can have a secular marriage through the justice of the peace.

I had a totally secular marriage - not a single religious overtone. I also never thought that I wouldn't get married someday, despite being non-religious. Just my two cents.
