Besides, these kind of events are quite safe in general. People don't come there to fight. Everyone is in a great mood usually. Maybe it's not a family event, but it sure as hell isn't one of them nightmare scenes either. If happy people make someone sick, maybe they should move to a mountain where they can be miserable all the time.

This is the definition of a jerk. Flex your power around to stop the fun when there's no good reason for it.

Last time I was in Toronto when everyone around me was weeping about the Leafs sucking as usual. This time I'm in Calgary and I will be there every night in the street lifting up my shirt at all cops I see.

That's right Asher! I remember last time in the playoffs when you said it's awesome, people are everywhere supporting the team, I spesifically remember you talking about it. So I have difficult time to understand how dangerous it was, since I never read any reported deaths about it or it being a disaster.

Now, those streets are your streets. The taxes you pay keep them clean. The Flames are YOUR team. You pay the salary of these fools making these decisions too. AND YOU KNOW the cops aren't against you on this one. They just have to roll with the idiotic decisions some of these *****es make. But they'd love to put on the jersey and join the party, that's for sure.

So fight this, don't bend over. If there's enough of you guys protesting this, they can't do anything. I mean if you protest this before the actual celebrations. Protesting wasn't illegal in there yet, or assembling to protest? So you can do that ... you know, fi you could make a red mile for a protest.. they'd have to allow you guys to do that. Make the world hear what asses some of these leaders of yours are. This would be a form of supporting the team. Get 1-0 before the first series..

Let's face it, people will be drunk and wanting to celebrate. If you get cops trying to stop them, you're just inviting trouble.

This has far more potential to start a riot than letting people celebrate the city's win...So my guess is they're saying this but in reality, it's not practical and it'll be dangerous to get in the way of drunken throngs of people.
