1. Field Artillery
2. Armor
3. Military Intelligence
4. Medical Services
5. Engineers
6. Infantry
7. Adjutant General
8. Signal Corps
9. Finance
10. Aviation
11. Air Defense
12. Military Police
13. Ordnance Corps
14. Quartermaster Corps
15. Transportation
16. Chemical Corps
As an officer you'll have security clearance no matter what branch. Field Artillery gives you a shot at NASA and Space Command jobs, but Military Intelligence would give you a shot at those and even more juicy positions also down the road.
With all the Homeland Security and Counterterrorism going on MI is a golden ticket right now.
Another thing to think about is the personnel you'll be interacting with. Field Artillery has the LOWEST intelligence requirement of all MOS's in the Armed Forces. If you're too stupid to march you can still pull a rope and make things go boom in the Artillery. They have the smartest officers and the dumbest grunts.
In Military Intelligence the Enlisted are all fairly smart as those MOSs require some of the highest test scores to get in to. BUT, promotions are going to MUCH less competitive in Field Artillery.

Yeah. I have a 98 outta 99 on the ASVAB, but I'm aware of the whole situation with enlisted FA guys. One nice thing is that the OBC is close to Dallas and I could hang out there every weekend.
FA actually got filled up pretty nicely with people from the class of 2006. I'm 2007. I have enlisted MI experience but that does not help out that much. MI lts don't do much...from what I have heard it is much better to go combat arms and then MI. That's what I hope to do."Yay Apoc!!!!!!!" - bipolarbear

I thought you had to score 100 to become an Occifer?
If it was me, I would probably go
1) Military Intelligence
2) Field Artillery
simply because I think you would have a better shot at some good schools (like language schools, etc) but you're probably right about going Artillery to get some rank then switching to MI.
Will you have a six year committment as an officer then have to decide to get out or go indefinite?Last edited by GhengisFarbâ„¢; April 11, 2006, 21:14.

(I'm so used to the GT stats for determing which MOSs people are eligible for.)Last edited by GhengisFarbâ„¢; April 11, 2006, 21:13.

Yeah, these days it's the ASVAB. It has many books and prep courses like the SAT and LSAT. I personally don't know why. I didn't even know I had to take a test when I got to MEPS."Yay Apoc!!!!!!!" - bipolarbear

With OTBOT Officers your supposed to be able to be placed in ANY branch and perform so your supposed to be able to grasp anything. So the ASVAB makes a lot more sense than catagorical breakdown of differnt aptitudes.
Although I've come across some really clueless officers.Last edited by GhengisFarbâ„¢; April 11, 2006, 21:13.

Yeah...some of the officer placements are kinda stupid though. There are people who are combat diver qualified who ended up getting stuck in QMD."Yay Apoc!!!!!!!" - bipolarbear

Well I could still be a ranger with even something like Quartermaster. Infantry isn't the only way nowadays, just the easiest.
I really don't want to be an air traffic controller for a living.
I honestly want to be a human resources director for a major company. That is my dream."Yay Apoc!!!!!!!" - bipolarbear

Which branch handles the nukes? I'm not talking about the little field missles, "Honest John", "Tiny Dink", or whatever, I mean the big bad ones with the multiple warheads able to obliterate a dozen cities in a single blow. That's the way to go if you're looking for real power. If you get into that branch then truly your words will be backed by nuclear weapons. I wonder if they'd let me in that branch?"I say shoot'em all and let God sort it out in the end!
