So for the general case : if person X sleeps with person Y, and as a result person Y's family is destroyed, kids end up with broken homes etc, person X bears zero responsibillity for this. Is that what people are saying here?

It's on the two people in a supposedly monogamous relationship to keep things running smoothly. The rest of society isn't responsible for their ****.

The "betrayal" is entirely at the doorstep of the cheater, not the person he or she decides to cheat with. That outside party made no promises, explicit or implicit (unless, of course he or she has some sort of preexisting friendship with one or both parties in the relationship), to not **** things up between the other two.

If you cheat, it's your fault. Period.

I disagree a bit with krazyhorse in this. I think being an enabler of cheating, whether being cheated on, or being the one the cheater sleeps with, is bad form.

There should be something in your head especially being the "other guy" that says "this is a bad situation that can not lead anywhere good beyond 30 minutes of pleasure".

If the cheater has lied to you though, I can see how youd be excused from being morally responsible.

I just look at this from my own past situation though. I like to think I treat other people the way I want to be treated.

Well, good news.

I spent the past four days with a new girl. She was single when I met her (but not anymore).

She's really sweet and wants to wait.

My problems are solved.

Except this one other girl wants to create some drama but that's another story.
