Hmmmm... let's take a look at that...

Or maybe I missed something. Perhaps Jacques Villenueve's F1 BMW Sauber has a "run over a shirtlifter today" sticker on it that I missed.
Or is it just that gaywheels dot com (wtf indeed!) have taken it upon themselves to start mincing up and down the car show rooms saying "ooh you're wicked".
If he is neither... maybe he shouldn't be posting crap like this then. When I see this kind of stuff, it can only be a troll, bigot, or complete ass... two of which might get him banned!

      Again, meh.

I don't see how that rises to the level of bigotry. Trolling, as I'm sure you're aware, is a gray area - I thought he was simply exaggerating for effect (as we all do on this forum).

Bigot, troll, complete ass? Because he thinks this particular action group is a step too far? Damn. Rough audience today.

Anyway, I've said my peace in support of a poster I consider a friend.

As Imran has pointed out, Cort has to denigrate Martin Luther King Jr. for being obsessed with having been black because he was concerned about equal rights for blacks.

But there certainly are important differences between the struggle for equality for blacks compared to the struggle for gays obtaining equality. But that cannot deny legitimate analogies and parallels between the two struggles.

Well perhaps he's just ignorant then .

I know that I'd be pissed if domestic partner benefits were not extended to me, but they were to others... enough that I wouldn't buy things from such a company.

No problem with him thinking this particular action group is a step to far.
My problem is the way he posted it! Was all that other BS needed...

Rough audience... nope... Just a mod being concerned with bigoted crap being posted on this site.

So what evidence is there that Daimler-Chrysler Benz, GM Saab, Volkswagen (?) Audi have gay friendly benefits within their broder coporate structure? Elsewise, there's not much else for your gay American consumer to choose 'between' in the upper class sedan market

Smart mobilization of purchasing power for near political gain, here. If corporation_s_ can be coerced into "recognizing" homosexual relationship through contract benefits, the most influential body to US government will have nudged a paradigm shift.

Well what also pisses me off are ignorant people who denigrate the broader struggle for equal rights for gays as being insignificant to the point that if they encounter one who is concerned about equal rights for gays they are "ZOMFG, you're all about being gay and nothing else!"

I'm still waiting for an explicit explaination of exactly which employment benefits are at stake here, and how universal they are across the economy, be it to gays or non-gays, inside the US and beyond.

I've never had anything remotely resembling a 'domestic partner benefit' from any employer, so I'm keen to know what it actually is, and whether anyone would like to boycott my employer until I get one. Maybe if the original article had explained it better I wouldn't have been left wondering what the boycott is about and resorted to poking fun.

I'd also like to ask whether the gay consumer groups are boycotting all countries where homosexuality is politically repressed - for example on religious grounds.

I certainly detect a resonant echo with fundamentalists wishing to ban mockery of their religion, and those who threaten to ban posters who use the word "mince".

Ming, Mr Fun, Imran etc - I am neither a habitual troll nor a bigot, but I find little difference between religious fundamentalists and some of you guys. Basically there seems to be an inclination to shut down discussion for those who don't toe the line. I have not advocated denial of any rights to any group. I joked that there is no overt homophobia from BMW, and this seems to have got me into trouble.

I say again - other people are getting domestic partner benefits, but not me. Who is gonna stand up for me?

Imran and Mr Fun are lying about what I said, and falsely accusing me of denigrating Mr King. I said no such thing, and on the contrary I explained the difference between universal civil rights and market-driven employee benefits.

The fact that what I actually said in my posts have been ignored, and words maliciously pushed into my mouth instead does little credit to my accusers here.

Thanks, Arrian, for your comments, btw - they are much appreciated my friend.

I did? Apparently someone has a persecution complex.

I just pointed out where your logic ends up.

I have not advocated denial of any rights to any group. I joked that there is no overt homophobia from BMW, and this seems to have got me into trouble.

No, what has gotten you into trouble is insinuating that there are not rights being violated when heterosexuals can have domestic partner benefits but homosexuals cannot, or when a company refuses to offer domestic partner benefits to anyone because according to a state law, they'd have to offer them to homosexuals as well as heterosexuals.

I've never had anything remotely resembling a 'domestic partner benefit' from any employer, so I'm keen to know what it actually is, and whether anyone would like to boycott my employer until I get one.

Domestic partner benefits are allowing an employee's "domestic partner" (whether it be heterosexual or homosexual) to share in the benefits of the job. Most commonly, it is used for health insurance. Your domestic partner can be covered by the employer's health insurance if they pay the reduced premium.

BMW is saying they aren't offering a domestic partner benefit to anyone because NJ law says if they give it to heterosexuals, then they have to give it to homosexuals.

I vote with my dollar as well, I refuse to buy American vehicles, even if they are gay friendly.

But Nissan North America scored the worst among top automakers with a 29. Not surprisingly, Nissan receives a non-gay friendly classification on Gaywheels.com.

I don't understand how Nissan is considered "non-gay friendly"

it's obvious to me where the design of some of their cars come from... I'm surprised gay men haven't picked up on this
