I'm now boycotting BMW for MrFun, because he's a commie now.

I'll balance the world out by boycotting MrFun in favor of BMW.

I used to work in credit card marketing, and a snapshot of the gay demographic showed significant economic power. While they lack the population (especially when compared to Fundies) their income level averaged $50k+. That's a lot more per-person spending power than your average Arkansas Bible-thumper.

Yeah... the "gay" market, no matter whose estimates you look at, is a powerful economic force. More and more companies are starting to target this segment, because they see dollar signs!

This story is a warning to those that think there is easy money out there to be had... It just screams, "get your house in order" if you want to do the job right.

Yes, unlike our own MrFun, most gays aren't so easily fooled by pandering .

Actually, it's refreshing to see the number of downloads they have had for the guide. It's good to know that the gay community is starting to flex their economic weight.

IMHO, this will be a far more effective way to change policy at companies than praying the government will jump in and do it.

you act like it's the first time you hear of a boycoytt or somebody buying a product to encourange the sellers or not buy it to discourage them.
Well, I see this left and right of course, but it's just unusual, to me, to see this with products as expensive as cars. I'm used to the petty boycots we have on our market, boycotting these or those cookies for 0.5 USD a pack .

There are no absolutes on such issues IMHO. I would bet that some super-activist types would boycott a product even if it was clearly the best value for them

Other people would adhere in proportion to how much they believed in the particular cause

Economic pressure fails inmost cases when the interest group fails to convince enough people

A boycott on beamers on this issue might involve a certain proportion of interested people. I bet the numbers would go WAY up if suddenly BMW did something monumnetally stupid like firing all their gay employees. leaving aside the lawsuits and human rights cases, I'd bet you would find a lot of people (both straight and gay) that would want to boycott their product

Since when is self-obsessed identity equated with legitimate concerns for equal rights and protection??
