  • A New Persona

I've been on Apolyton for roughly four and a half years and have engaged in a fair number of debates, discussions, and arguments. I've seen the releases of both Civ 3 and Civ 4 and participated fairly frequently during those times. But I will also admit that, to a large extent, I've been a lurker and that gaps between my posts can be rather lengthy.

The result of this, I feel, is that no one on Apolyton really knows the real Lorizael. And, of course, this is a terribly depressing thought; I'm just not one of the popular posters here. Inevitably, this serves to crush my already diminished self-esteem.

Alas, I cannot let this be. I was uncool in elementary school, uncool in middle school, and and uncool in high school too. If, on top of all that, I were also uncool in my chosen internet forum - well that, that would simply be the end of me.

So, for those of you still reading this inane rant, I have resolved to become one of Apolyton's elite famous posters.

An Apolytoner whose well known radical beliefs are used as a measuring stick for others of similar inclinations.

An Apolytoner who finds himself most often in people's signatures.

An Apolytoner that causes other Apolytoners to wake suddenly in the night, disturbed by dreams of anonymous internet posters.

Thus I implore you, the people of Apolyton, to give to me a new persona, a wild and outlandish personality that will ensure my popularity and notoriety.

Shall I be a surfer dude, concerned only with finding new beaches across the world? A hardcore Conervative who idolizes and quotes Ann Coulter? A religious nut dedicated to converting everyone on Apolyton to my new cult?

It's up to you, my fellow posters. I realize now that “just being yourself" doesn't work in today's cutthroat world. I must be someone else. So the question is - Who! The answer I leave to you.

(The ultimate irony, of course, would be if this thread sank into the depths of postless obscurity.)

You won't get anywhere with such a calm post. You need to start making waves. Say something crazy, yet wth hints of profundity. That seems to work.

The trick is to find something moderately but obviously reprehensible and be an apologist for it. Defending the Nazis is appalling; defending the tobacco industry and claiming cigarettes are good for one's lungs can be pretty funny in a surreal way, if you're persistent enough about it. Well, not quite, but a lot of the good examples are taken.

If you don't feel comfortable defending monsters, supporting something that's merely abysmally stupid will also work. Maybe you can become a booster for some relatively harmless pseudoscience involving crystals and astral spirits. Use your imagination, but whatever you do, be persistent and just varied enough in your style of attack that you don't get annoying (like Philosophizer).

Lords NO, stay far away from Lori.

Elok had a good point- pick a cause, any cause...the "Lorizael" brand, without the funny script behind the name (sorry Colon).

Been done before. We haven't had anyone defending bestiality though.

We kill animals all the time. We hunt them for pleasure. Veal is very nearly tortured just to make us happy. How can bestiality possibly be wrong considering all that!

                              Bestiality is too limited.

You need a cause that came come up in a variety of discussions.

It can;t be a negative definitions either, like anti-democracy. You can be anti-democratic, but as the defender of something else.

Or you can be the expert on something...
