If the NGO did that, it is likely that the demonstrators would disappear
There has probably been less change in Belarus than in any of the countries of the Former Soviet Union- the people are poor and repressed and likely to stay so as long as Lukoshenko is still in power
Bullsh!t.
The people there are richer than most of the people anywhere on post-Soviet space. You just have no idea what are you talking about.
I love the place
Does it mean that Poly is dictatorship?
No.
If you brake the rules - you have a vacation, the same is everywhere else, including Belarus.
I say, if they'll cross the line with their protests - screw (is it a nice replacement for a word I've been banned for recently?) them!

That country is a total joke. Give half back to Poland and toss the other half to Russia. The Poles could then give the Germans back their land.

Oh, what "lords", what "lords", my grandpa was a teacher there
More like Poland supports Polish puppeting of Byelorus, because Belarus is independent since 1991.
Do You recall, your president suggested incorporating Byelorus to Russia, not even as a whole and as a separate part, but each province alone?
The majority of Byelorussians DO SPEAK Russian, because they consider it as their native language. It doesn't called ByeloRUS (White Russia) for nothing.
Do You think I don't know they do? I actually have written it. The point is that Byelorussian language is a symbol of Byelorussian independance, and it is persecuted by Lukaszenko. And it's not "White Russia", but "White Ruthenia", as You know well. Rus and Rossiya or whatever it is in your language are not the same.

Stop speaking Polish!
I didn't understand a word.
Correct me, if I got you wrong:
did your grandpa was one of the "teachers" who taught Byelorussians how to obey their Polish masters properly?
Do You recall, your president suggested incorporating Byelorus to Russia, not even as a whole and as a separate part, but each province alone?
You mean Yeltsin how suggested that Byelorussia should become just an another subject of the Russian Federation?
Lukoshenko denied that and sure, from Polish perspective it's an another sign of Byelorussian dependency.

1) Rus and Russia it's the same, like a root and a tree. Either is pointless without another.
2) Russian, Byelorussian and Ukrainian are dialects of the same language. Russians, Ukranians and Byelorussians do not need an interpreter to understand each other. The difference among the languages is nowhere near than difference between northern and southern Italian dialects or northern or sourthern Chinese dialects, etc.
3) I don't know where you get it that Byelorussian language is presecuted in Belarus. It's one of the two state languages there according to their constitution. But considering that wast majority of the population use Russian and considering Russian as their native language, it's none of your bussiness to intervenue there and demand anything. It's all up to Byelorussians to decide what language they have to use in their everyday life and with whom they should integrate with.

Q:Whats the difference between a dialect and a language?
A: A language is a dialect with an army and a navy.

So, long live the US Navy and US Army who protect the mighty American language! And English English is just a crappy dialect of the true American English we use in US of A?
The difference between American English and English English is the same as between the Byelorussian and Russian languages.
Polish whine about banning of Russian in Belarus it's like someone hypothetical whine that modern US should speak German or French now, because... hell knows why, but you have to!!!
You have a German and French speaking minority, right? So, speaking English IS JUST PLAIN WRONG AND UNDEMOCRATIC!!!
From the "Voice of Poland" radio station broadcasting over USA in 2025, after their former successes in Ukraine and Byelorussia:
"The English speakers might look relaxed and having fun speaking with each other.
DON'T BELIEVE THEM!!!
English kills, unless YOU kill first!!!
Let's ban English everywhere, even at people homes.
Vote for proposition 1776 which allows our citizens to legaly kill anyone who speaks English.
It's time to move up the food chain, LET'S DISH THE ENGLISH!!!"

And as for lower energy prices for Byelorussia, it's true NOW (but once again - Ukraine or Georgia were in the same position few years ago, but were unable to reach the level of Byelorussian economy growth), I see nothing wrong with that, considering that Belorus is our ally. We are living in a union state and on our way to complete integration. So, it's none of your beussiness whom we sell energy at reduced price and whom we demand to pay a full price - it's our bussiness, nobody else.
There was war/separatism in Georgia, so you can't really compare it with Byelorussia. About Ukraine, I don't know enough about them. It's much bigger than Byelorussia though. Anyway, I'm just saying that "Byelorussian miracle" is not all that miraculous if you take into account that their energy needs are met at a subsidised price.
Byelorussian statistics are impressive compared to other former SSSR countries, I admit that.
