It's also the decor and the vib you get from the place. Either everyone suddenly came up with the exact same business plan or people have been stealing ideas from each other.
Oh noes!! There were 3 or 4 restaurants around here who had the same business plan at roughly the same time, who had the same setup and types of food!

Kind of like sub shops (did they all steal the idea from Jersey Mike's?).

Just admit that there was a whole lot of idea stealing to go around and we'll call it a day.

I got no clue how much idea stealing was involved (with the exception that the sub-shop standard was used), and I have no idea whether the original founders of Chipotle were involved in it.

          Never heard of Robertos.
Better than Taco Bell ain't hard.

BTW: Pachanga (aka Mexican Grill) is the best Mexican fast food ever , but you can't get it outside Southern Califonia

Robertos is a San Diego based burrito joint that started in 1964. What the website won't tell you is both of the founders were illegal aliens.

You can now find Robertos in Orange County, San Diego County, and Imperial County as well as in Tijuana. I'm not sure about LA but I suspect they're there. The food is pretty good and cheap so for a chain it is pretty damn good though I still feel mom & pop type taquerias are better. If you've only got $3-$4 and you want authentic Mexican style fastfood then Robertos is a great place to go. Beats the doors off of Chipotle and the gringo-ified fast food places.

Wow, they've shrunk down to just six locations. In the 1990's they got huge but I guess they had to sell a bunch of places off. I used to go to the Roberto's in Mira Mesa almost every day for lunch because my high school was only two blocks away. Their carne asada nacho chips were AWESOME and large enough to fill three people at $1.99 so even 16 year olds with jobs at K-Mart could afford them.

I've never heard of Pechanga Mexican restaurant before. I know there is an Indian band (not large enough to be a tribe) named Pechanga which owns a new Casino out in the Temecula area. Pretty nice place and the night club draws a huge crowd especially since you have to drive 1 hour from San Diego or 2 hours from LA to get there. I suppose it's only 1 hour from Riverside as well. It's a nice place.

The cool thing is they're 24 hours so the 2:30am post bindge drinking burrito run was always a go.

                    As is the original Tommy's.

BTW: Beware of the various imitators: Tammy's and Tomy's.

there's one about 2 blocks from my apt. Much prefer to subway. Prefer the fries of Penn Station to chips, however.

The original was like 5 miles away from where my parents live in Jersey.
