I'll be around for the pint.

I also recommend Chateau Harrison, I believe its a gite

                  Pretty please with sugar on?

I´m thinking maybe two nights so I can see some stuff like the British Museum and visit Forbidden Planet and other cool places

Otherwise I found a place called Ashlee House that´s apparently not too shabby or expensive. It´s in Grays Inn Road near Kings Cross...

                    That's OK...where are you flying into? (I don't mean that in a 11-9 sense).

Stansted. And I´m trying to find a flight that can get me a cheap fare both ways.

King's Cross is a dive. The other end of Gray's Inn Road is where I work though, and it's sweet.

It´s quite scary reading some of the reviews people write at backpacker sites on cheap hotels/hostels in London. Even if it´s smack in the center of London and looks nice on the outside there´s unfriendly staff, psychos that roam the hallways, dirty linen, disgusting toilets, cockroaches...

I've never seen a cockroach in England, ever - I didn't even know they existed in England. Those places must be really bad.

Or maybe it´s just a stupid american who can´t tell a mouldy raisin from a cockroach?

I wouldn't be surprised at the state of some of the places available...if only the inspectors were a little more numerous and proactive at sorting out these places...
