Barry Bonds... new book details performance enhancing drug use

Uh, dude, compare the US population now and ten years ago. Add these factors: 32 teams, no double-headers, corporate suites.
It would be more surprising if they didn't set attendance records regularly.
That's per game attendance as well, btw.
And for a good portion of the 90s that number wasn't going up. The last 5 years, on the other hand, it has (and new stadiums weren't necessarily bigger on the seats... rather on the luxury sweets and had less seating).

Oh boo hoo... they cheated you, they cheated the game... did they cheat 'the children' too? What a whiner.
Guess what, baseball will break another attendance records this year, as it has for each of the last five years. And every game where Bonds is playing will be sold out (if it isn't already). I don't think all those fans are going to feel that cheated, if at all.
oh
I love how when your whole defense of Barry Bonds not being a cheater blows up, you just fall back on "what whiner" and "baseball will break attendance records".
that was just awesome
Baseball is not going to be hurt from this. Attendance won't suffer. But the steroid freaks will, as will those who support them. That is what is important. I think in the years ahead, there is going to be reform and testing instituted. And maybe ten, twenty years down the road, people are going to look at that era as the "Steroids Era".
And the big irony is, Jose Canseco might end up being looked at as the hero who blew the whistle on the whole thing.
I also look forward to the day when someone breaks Maris' record... legitimately.

Where? I didn't see anything 'blown up' from my argument at all.
Was it because he cheated you? Because he cheated the game? Because he cheated the children? Did he cheat your aching heart? ****, ****. The 'cheating' charge blew up in your face and you started spewing BS and whining like a ***** who had his ass handed to him.

In the 90s, MLB blew up the game with labor strife, had a season without a World Series, and generally did everything they could to alienate the public.
It's kind of like seeing a company lose billions in the two years after 9/11 and the dot-com crash, then posting modest profits and hearing the CEO "We made millions! I turned the company around!!" When in fact they had nowhere to go but up. Attendance up the past 5 years? WHAT A SHOCK!
New stadiums, btw, are a definite marketing strategy. It's been proven time after time, francishes get a major attendance boost in the first couple years in a new stadium, even with a mediocre team.
MLB has struggled to get a respectable TV deal, is increasingly dependent on cable, has a huge disparity between have and have-not franchises, and is in definite financial distress in several markets. Only in comparison to the NHL does baseball look well-managed among pro sports in the US.

'Breaking' attendance records. Not merely attendance up the past 5 years. That means more fans per game than in 1993... or at any point in baseball history.

Why not just put an asterisk next to Bonds' records? Or would that be too much truth telling in baseball's stats?

Why not put an asterisk by the Pittsburgh Steelers wins in the 70s? After all, that is when Sava says steroids were first being abused in professionl sports and that defense was integral in those SuperBowl wins.

It would require a 2nd asterisk. At this rate, the record book will double in thickness, just to accomodate asterisks.
How about instead we have two? A "clean" and a "dirty" set of records?

I don't care about football. Do what you will in that sport. Now if you are through dodging, would you care to answer the question?
How do we decide who is clean and who is dirty?
We seem to have an impressive array of evidence against Bonds. Let's go with that and say he's dirty.

Innocent till proven guilty. Having evidence isn't the same as being proven guilty. There has to be an official board to designate this. Everyone has their own opinion.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

There was a charter league. American joined. AFL joined football, now the AFC. Basketball had ABA.
Just start "Dirty League" records. Bonds, whiile maybe not fully accurate to be named so, could be founding member.
