All true but what I basically meant was that some kid, aware of Sikh tradition, may try to take the knife just to annoy the Sikh. Here in Amish country I have some idea how to annoy the Amish (not that I ever would).

That might be why public policy generally encourages Sikh students to conceal a pouch with the kirpan in it, and not wear a weapon on the belt.

I think it varies from state to state, but can't concealed weapon permit holders bring guns into schools and other sensitive sites in parts of the United States?

I don't think you understand that schools in Canada are not a place of terror like in the US.

Neither were schools in Scotland or Germany. For that matter you should realise that there have been no incidents of school shootings in over 40 of the 50 states in the union. Bullying is fairly common though.

In the US Episcopalians have an extraordinarily low rate of violence and criminal activity. How about we be allowed to bring M-16s to school as a symbol of our traditional political domination of the nation?

Dr Strangelove, no, you should realize that the US is extremely violent society compared to many others, that meaning, we don't have school incidents, not trying to play it down but we just don't have them.

We don't have that problem, period, so there's no need for fix. The problem is not those knives. Canadian schools have no problems in this regard.
