I'm a scientist, plus I am pretty mad, you have to be to work in this profession

speaking of incinerating the world. Isn't there some very small chance one of these new supercolliders coming online soon will destroy the planet? I think I read that somewhere. it's funny, I worry about that more than getting into a car accident. And it's not like I'll even know what hit me.

I think the probability is pretty damn slim

Well then, your first task as a mad scientist is to develop a device or something to make you irresistable to beautiful women. Make them swoon all over you.

You're thinking of accidentally creating a black hole.

However one that size will undergo quantum evaporation and vanish fast.

Now there's a phrase you don't hear much in everyday conversation.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)
                      2004 Presidential Candidate
2008 Presidential Candidate (for what its worth)

Its true that is the current theory (Hawking radiation, I believe) but AFAIK it hasn't been proven. The new collider should prove or disprove the theory.

You mean it's possible for a person to become desperate enough to develop a necrophilia fetish?

Check out Spin's thread on the experiment with the gold ion. It dates back to 2000, so it might have dropped to some more remote page of the OT

Is that before or after destroying the solar system?
