speaking of incinerating the world. Isn't there some very small chance one of these new supercolliders coming online soon will destroy the planet? I think I read that somewhere. it's funny, I worry about that more than getting into a car accident. And it's not like I'll even know what hit me.

Well then, your first task as a mad scientist is to develop a device or something to make you irresistable to beautiful women. Make them swoon all over you.Originally posted by Zkribbler

Now there's a phrase you don't hear much in everyday conversation.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)

2008 Presidential Candidate (for what its worth)

Its true that is the current theory (Hawking radiation, I believe) but AFAIK it hasn't been proven. The new collider should prove or disprove the theory.Originally posted by Urban Ranger

Check out Spin's thread on the experiment with the gold ion. It dates back to 2000, so it might have dropped to some more remote page of the OTOriginally posted by Dis
