They didn't make the joke that Marines are nothing but racketeers/gangsters for corporations??

Even W has publicly stated that Sadaam had nothing to do with 9/11.

At 55%, reservists serving in Iraq were most likely to see those back home as unpatriotic for wanting a rapid withdrawal, while 45% of Marines and 33% of members of the regular Army agreed.
"Mom...Dad... I'm writing from Iraq to inform you that I think you are unpatriotic if you want me home real soon"...

Well Pentagon surely has a well developed propaganda machine to motivate the troops, and I guess nothing works better than 9-11
        They have Fox

        Want smarter soldiers? Draft them

Zogby was in on this poll so that carries weight with me, but the disparity between the homeland and the troops is scary. I knew there'd be big differences but its like they dont listen to anyone other than the Bushies and the truth doesn't even trickle down from smarter people in the officer corp. I've heard about half of Fox viewers still believe in a Saddam - 9/11 connection, so I shouldn't be surprised the % is even higher.

And how many Walter Cronkite's are left in mainstream journalism? None...

Dan Rather got hounded out of journalism because he got duped by a bad source... even though the facts that the story claimed were true and were more than adequately supported by other sources. Even the chick who said the letter was a fake said that its contents stated facts..

You know how people don't like it when journalists get killed in war zones? Well, I've changed my mind about this.. I think that both sides should shoot at the journalists until they start doing their ****ing job properly. In fact, if Al Qaeda bombed CNN, they would be doing us a favour and should be applauded.

Have you seen CNN's morning broadcast? News my ass!!! The only good thing about it is Soledad O'Brien, and she's wasted as a journalist when she should be actually useful at my house adminstering oral sex while I watch the Premier League and eat Cheetos.

Couldn't the realization that Iraq was turning into a quagmire over that year+ have soured the troops serving there?

Thanks to Cronkite the U.S. was the beneficiary of a wave of future valedictorians arriving on overloaded boats after losing everything they had. Some friends of mine were also treated to the spectacle of pirates raping all the young women on board, one of whom drowned herself due to the shame. The long term abuse of members of the former regime and their families is just par for the course for communists of course, but the ethnic cleansing of the Chinese was really over the top. Thanks Walt for turning defeat in detail in Tet into a political victory for North. Way to go *******.

Sure, the media will report on occasional bad things, especially if they are domestic, but it is rare to find a major media outlet come out against its own country on major matters of foreign policy. Britain is one of the few countries where this actually happens. I guess Watergate is another example. Otherwise the bad stuff only comes out years later when it no longer matters.

It's not a conspiracy. Most people don't like being told their country is an evil sack of crap, and governments can make things very difficult for those who rock the boat. There will always be small media that won't play ball, but they don't really matter as most people don't even know they exist.

Witness how the major news outlets in the US rolled over for the Bush administration's lies about Iraq. It would be unthinkable for CNN to come out and say: "the adminstration's case is a pack of lies", which unfortunately was the truth and was obvious to any thinking person from the start.

                            In a world of nanotech?

What makes you think so? Media (games, movies etc)?

I'd say nanotech is much more overhyped than battle robots. Battle robots are basically here.
