Well...if you want to go there:

      Germersheim, Germany
      Adelaide, Australia

Those are the only two in which they operate. I wouldn't oppose 1 or 2 small locations in the US, but 22 of the biggest ports?

1.) You're a Canadian living in Canada. Please don't think your opinion on US issues matters to me.

2.) That doesn't matter. What matters is they have an issue with it, as detailed a few posts ago, and considering they are the ones protecting OUR ports, I'd rather listen to them than trade insiders.

Thanks for clarifying your xenophobia for me.

It's a discussion board, Fab. I don't recall ever having to present a passport before posting in a thread.

I would have thought you'd have figured this out by now.

And then you can puzzle out for all the American readers just what inside track the CG has on intelligence on a company from the UAE.

Hi. I know you're Canadian. I know that you're not American. I know that this is an American issue. I'm sorry that I don't care what a Canadian thinks about this specific issue. Sure, I'd care what you thought regarding importation of medication or border control or hockey, but this really isn't in that area.

But apparently, since I oppose this, I'm a xenophobe. You don't know me, yet you decide to state your opinion to what I am, as well as what my country should do.

Hmm...makes me want to listen to you even more.

I don't know what intelligence they have. However, I'll listen to what they say about their intelligence, which they have. I'll listen to them, in fact, far longer than I'll listen to some trade analyst.

                      It's an international issue.

You Yanks are going tilt over the rag-heads owning a company that manages your ports, nevermind that they don't control access to those ports, a myriad of American govenment agencies do.

Meanwhile, your reactions to a UAE company buying a British company's assets are only going to fuel fires of resentment abroad.

                      That is an international issue.

Now please explain how the CG has intelligence on the UAE that nobody else has.

A proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It's a proof. A proof is a proof, and when you have a good proof it's proven.

It is. But I'm not an "international", I'm an "American", and one of the said ports is a mile from my apartment. I feel that my opinion on this matter is a bit more valid, no offense.

You Yanks are going tilt over the rag-heads owning a company that manages your ports, nevermind that they don't control access to those ports, a myriad of American govenment agencies do.
                          RAG-HEADS? I don't use words like that. They're xenophobic.

And they control the loading/unloading of ships. Said ships include those transporting (highly explosive and spreadable) natural gas through some of these ports including mine.

Meanwhile, your reaction to a UAE company buying a British company's assets are only going to fuel fires of resentment abroad.
And they hate me because some Danes made pictures. Of course...I don't hate them, but I also don't want a country that has iffy policies regarding terrorists and nations that harbor them opperating in the port of Boston, just as I don't really want the Chinese opperating there.

                          That is an international issue.
Second. This is an American issue first.

Now please explain how the CG has intelligence on the UAE that nobody else has.

Guess what: The Coast Guard has access to the same data that the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines have access to.

Citing broad gaps in U.S. intelligence, the Coast Guard cautioned the Bush administration that it was unable to determine whether a United Arab Emirates-owned company might support terrorist operations, a Senate panel said Monday.
