The Tories managed to get elected and then re-elected 3 times in a row, each time during major recessions and periods of strife. Then got chucked out during a period of high prosperity. Irony? Or a sign that the people like Tory policies when things are bad, and Labour when they've got some cash to spare?

I dislike Clinton quite a bit. Though he is definitely not on the same scum-scale as Thatcher and Stalin.

The problem with your bait is that FDR is just so... uncontroversial. The use of Clinton would have been a red flag to some bulls.

And Stalin? I mean, if there's a Godwin for bringing in the Nazis out of left field, there should be a Godonov or something for bringing in the Reds where they don't belong. Stalin was too outrageous to be taken seriously in that set of four.

Bush would have worked a charm. An argument over the good and bad of Blair, Thatcher, Clinton and Bush could easily have gone on for a complete 500 or two.
