NBC had one of its better nights of the Winter Olympics on Monday, outdistancing its competitors by a fairly wide margin.
For the night, NBC averaged a 13.5 rating/20 share, well ahead of second-place FOX, 8.4/12. CBS finished third at 6.7/10, with ABC in fourth at 6.1/9. UPN's 2.2/3 edged The WB's 1.9/3 for fifth.
The race was somewhat tighter among adults 18-49, where NBC's 6.8 rating led the way. FOX was a competitive second at 5.5. ABC scored a 4.0 in the demographic to finish third. CBS was fourth at 3.4, followed by UPN, 1.4, and The WB, 0.9.
The Olympics started off with a 12.0/18 at 8 p.m. A Monday installment of "House" scored an 8.7/13 for FOX. ABC was third with the special "Wife Swap Saved My Marriage," 5.5/8, beating reruns of "The King of Queens" and "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS. "One on One" and "All of Us" averaged 2.2/3 for UPN. The WB trailed with the movie "Agent Cody Banks."
NBC improved to 14.0/20 at 9 p.m. with coverage of skiing and ice dancing from Turin, Italy. FOX remained in second with "24," 8.1/12. ABC's "Wife Swap" special held onto third, edging repeats of "Two and a Half Men," 7.8/11, and "Courting Alex," 5.5/8, on CBS. UPN held steady with "Girlfriends" and "Half & Half," and The WB's movie finished with a 1.8/3.
