Don't remember ever doing any of the aforesaid congratulating. However, I have noticed that many on these boards freely flail around with disdain and disrespect.

I find it annoying when someone, who obviously feels bad about the actions of people supposedly representing his faith, gets brushed aside as he goes out of his way and displays restraint when posting on this forum so as not to irritate the seeming majority of western members of this forum. His respectful approach is greeted with disrespect. Makes me want to apologize to him!

Yeah, it was a house full of disrespect. We've all said he has nothing to apologize for, since he didn't commit anything, and was in fact, a positive force, by showing proper example.

        • I in general have a go at all religions equally. At the moment it is Islamic fundamentalism, in the next abortion thread it might be right wing Christianity. In short, anyone who is willing to dictate anothers actions, reasoning from a centuries old book propagated by the ruling elite to subject the masses and keep them under control easily. If they want their own lives ruled by it, so be it, but I can make my own choices and don't need anyone to tell me what I can and cannot do.

The fact that most of these religions think that human society would sink into a cesspool of depravity and sin, where murder and peadophilia etc are common place, says more about religious people than human society in general. I do not need artifical constraints to behave like a rational human being.

In this age we should allow reason and logic to come to the fore, and any religion should be ridiculed and dismantled piece by piece.

Ok, you choose to read what I said which ever way you want Az... I was reacting to Berzerker's statements.

You're clearly speaking of him and EVERYBODY else. Or at least, that's the way it reads. Not only by me.

Or is doubting his faith is also forbidden?
Btw, will anyone answer this question of mine?

I should have have said, "his respectful approach is greeted with disrespect by some."

This topic is making me too angry, and I risk loosing my temper, so I will unsubscribe from this thread. Enjoy the debate. There shall be no more chastising from me.

                  • I hate it when people bail out from the most important debates, while in other threads, people go on and on arguing on whether UofC means UofCalgary or UofChicago.

                      • OK. Now personally, I go with the idea that rights entail responsibility. Like the responsibility of publishers not to deliberately inspire racial or religious hatred.

Google, however is a search engine, not a publisher...

                        • Your search is too specific. Simply google "mohammed cartoon" and click images, the one with the bomb in the turban is right there, as are some worse.

Let me pose a question to those of you who are pinning all of your hopes on the moderate muslims: what overall actions do you expect to see from this group?
I would expect them to do the same as every other decent person in the world. To just live their lives, to honor their beliefs, and to be good people. Like all good people it is good when they say extremists do not speak for them. What more could be asked of any man?

                              • Good to see a Muslim here (and not a poser like Imran )

Thanks Moustafa for having differentiated yourself from the extremists. Over here, we have a history of asking "where is the outrage? What are the moderate Muslims doing?" whenever some Muslim extremists do something terrible.

Many Apolytoners don't see any moderate Muslim disapproving what extremists are doing, and a strong streak of Islamophobia has developed here because of that. For this reason, I'm glad you have taken upon yourself to show that yes, there are Muslims who oppose the extremists, and who have nothing to do with the scumbags
